1.3 Deciding Your Launch Date

FINDING THE BEST LAUNCH DATE

Working with your Onboarding Specialist to get your program started, you will determine together the best date to launch your program. PBC Guru’s priority is to help you start reading your first book as quickly as possible! We also want to exercise foresight in looking strategically at the success and longevity of your program. With that in mind, we have developed a series of best practices for book club launches and management based on a Universal Reading Schedule that will also serve as your guide for deciding your launch date. Our schedule operates on five 10-week reading periods that begin during the first week of January and end, approximately, in the second week of December each year. We arrived at this schedule by assessing different iterations of book club launches, as well as noticing consistent and exceptional engagement drop-offs during the last two weeks of December.

Our Universal Reading Period (RP) Schedule is as follows:

Each date range in the schedules above corresponds to one reading period. The first days of each reading period also serve as our de facto “ideal launch dates.” Though we do have some flexibility, all book club programs launch within one week of any reading period start date with the exception of the last two weeks of December. In exceptional circumstances, if you have conflicts around multiple reading period start dates, your Onboarding Specialist will work with you to find an alternative date to start. For optimal program management, any group that begins outside of our recommended start timeline will be looped back into our Universal Reading Schedule by the end of their second reading period.
